The motivation is to pen in service walkers in the housing area while still allowing destination walkers (specifically bazaar buyers, also service buildings that require goods) to get to the industrial areas in order to pick up goods. I think Brugle's done his usual outstanding job giving you the basics of whom roadblocks block and whom they leave pass as well as how to utilize roadblocks for concentric ring blocks - inner ring road for services, outer road touching houses for labor access. Hey Sakanaman, (and thanks for the plug!) My cities in the Downloads all use this technique (and Selima Oasis uses only this technique). Run a road along those outside houses to the industry. I prefer not to use this method, and when it's unavoidable, I evolve the houses to at least cottages (preferably to spacious homesteads).Īnother way to supply labor access to industry is to build a housing block nearby with houses on the outside. One way to supply labor access to industry is to build a small settlement, perhaps just a few tents, with the industry. Walkers that just wander around (such as citizens looking for labor, entertainers from a venue that aren't going to a festival, architects, water carriers, and bazaar traders) cannot pass through a roadblock (except when they're returning to their building, since then they have a specific destination). Walkers with a specific destination (such as cart pushers, entertainers from an entertainment school, soldiers going to a tower, laborers going to a floodplain farm, and bazaar buyers) pass through a road block. Roadblocks have been discussed before, but (as you say) there are a lot of threads. Hi Sakanaman, welcome to Pharaoh Heaven forums. ( or didn't I look good enough? There's a lot of threads out there by now )I set up my blocks similar to gunthebath ( downloaded his city to get a good idea of the basics, thanks gunnie) but if I put the roadblocks in place the **** hits the fan. Q: I am not sure who can't pass the roadblocks, are it the guys looking for labourers ot the labourers themselves that pass? I developed my cities without using roadblocks inside the city ( only the outskirts to keep walkers from crossing the whole map just turning around at the end ) I am sure if I know where and when to place the roadblocks, my cities would do a lot better if everybody would work where they are needed.Īny help is Ok, I could not find a thread about this, everybody seems to know naturally how it works. Q: So how do I keep my deliverers inside their block without keeping out the unemployment agents ( the guys that look for labourers). But when I place them, I always shut of the workforce and I get employment problems. I see the use of them, the water carriers turn around etc… So I know where I should place them to keep the necessary guys in their work area/block. I have been watching closely what happens if you put one in place. I read the manual carefully ( 3 times wen it came to roadblocks, walkers, etc…). I can develop a decent city by now, but I don't understand roadblocks. So, thanks to you guys and girls, I could learn most of the basics and overcome the beginners' problems, eeeeuh, most of them. I never felt the need to post or ask questions, most needed info is already posted. I have been visiting this forum since I bought Pharaoh.
